Being a single dad to a couple of 7 year old twin boys isn’t what one would call a stroll in a park. Particularly so since its little league soccer season once more. This year yours truly will be the man in charge for getting the team jerseys produced.
Being one of but three men among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was quite a challenge to get the majority of the committee to come to an agreement not to change the team’s jersey color from red to pink. But try as we might, we failed in our valiant attempt to change the team name to The Red Bulls from The Red Flamingos.
After searching for jerseys, and believe it or not - sponsors, I came to realize that our soccer team did not have its own logo. I spoke of this matter with the other two dads and we came to a decision that it might be a a splendid idea if we were to have our own soccer team symbol. So we took it upon ourselves to create a logo prototype each and display them to the committee.
The 3 of us congregated the subsequent weekend with our cutting edge designs and ended up having a laugh at ourselves, before we resigned to the fact that we weren’t born with creative minds. Evidently my Flamingo looked like a Woodpecker on steroids. The designs from the other two dads weren’t that much better. One can potentially pass for a work by Picasso and the other seemed like bored doodlings from a miserable victim of a 5 hour long department meeting. But we went ahead and handed the design drafts to the committee all the same.
Even though the committee collectively barred the 3 of us from designing anything for the club unless there is a blue moon, they did come to agreement that our team should indeed have its own logo. So I enthusiastically went back and did a search for logo design greece, selected some of the more established design firms and gave them to the committee.
Now our soccer team has its own custom logo. We had patches made for the jerseys and stickers produced for fun’s sake - thanks to the sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop we always take the kids to after a game. The logo design itself ended up looking really cool with a an unmistakeably red Flamingo standing on one leg and the other casually resting on a soccer ball with its wings akimbo.
Rumor has it that next year I’ll be in charge of liquid sustenance aka drinks. I’m thinking of taking it a notch higher and am planning something big to present to Gatorade about a sponsorship package.
