on May 2nd, 2008Symptoms of a Sinus Infection-The Truth
While growing up the grammar school nurse use to tell me that I had a cold. Whatever the school nurse told me, I believed in. In fact, I didn’t even tell my parents until sometime later. I was the type of kid that would be wiping my nose and sniffling all day.
By the age of 10, I started to question what the nurse had told me. “How could a cold last so long and happen so often?” So I decided to pay a visit to the junior high school nurse. She told me that I had allergies and wrote a note to my parents mentioning that I needed to take some kind of over the counter allergy medicine.
My parents had no clue about allergy medicine. My mom bought some, but it wasn’t the non-drowsy kind for sure. I could still recall how drowsy I was during school time. So when I was in class one day, the teacher talked to me one-on-one and asked me if she could talk to my parents. She actually thought I was taking some illegal drugs. That was when I was 10 years old.
That’s how my younger years were and when my sinus infections started to occur. What I’m about to describe are two types of sinus infections. These 2 are called acute and chronic.
Here are the symptoms:
Symptoms of Acute Sinusitis
* Mucus drainage down the back of the throat
* Fever is common
* Nasal congestion
* Pain behind the eyes
* Facial pain or soreness
* Pressure around the sinus cavities
* Nasal discharge
* Vision problems
* Headaches
Symptoms of Chronic Sinusitis
* Chronic sore throat
* Chronic nasal discharge
* Bad breath
* Prolonged facial pain
* Pain below the eyes
* Pressure across or above your nasal passages
* Toothaches
* Prolonged headaches
How Long Will I Have These Sinus Problems?
There are alot of things that may seem similar between acute and chronic infections. However, what is dissimilar is amount of time that the symptoms will last. Acute sinus infections can last for several weeks. Chronic sinus infections can last for months.
What Sinus Infection Treatment Will Work For Me?
You might want to try out an natural remedy or an over the counter treatment. Seeking help from a medical professional is advised. I’m guessing that you would want to take a medication without having any problems, wouldn’t you?
